Katie Ledecky, 31, Confirms LA28 Run: 'I'm Not Done Yet'

The most decorated female swimmer in Olympic history β€” 10 medals, 8 gold β€” says the idea of racing a home crowd in LA is 'too special to pass up.'

LOS ANGELES, USA – Katie Ledecky, the most decorated female swimmer in Olympic history, has confirmed she will compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Games at age 31.

"I'm not done yet," Ledecky said in an exclusive interview. "I still love the water. I still love racing. And the idea of swimming in front of a home crowd in LA? That's too special to pass up."

HER RECORD

Ledecky currently holds 10 Olympic medals (8 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) across four Games: London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024. In Paris, she won gold in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle β€” proving her dominance remains intact at 27.

THE CHALLENGE

LA28 will present new competition. Ledecky faces rising stars like Canada's Summer McIntosh (who beat her in the 400m in Paris) and Australia's Ariarne Titmus.

"I know I'm the hunted now," Ledecky said. "That's fine. I've been hunted before."

Her training has already shifted to prioritize the 800m and 1500m over shorter events. "Longer distances favor experience," she said. "And I have plenty of that."

A gold in LA28 would make Ledecky the oldest female swimmer to win an Olympic distance event since 1956, and would extend her record as the most decorated female swimmer in history.

"Why stop when you're still winning?" she said with a smile.
