Opening Ceremony to Split Between Historic Coliseum and SoFi Stadium

LA28's unprecedented dual-venue opening on July 14, 2028 honors the Coliseum's 1932 and 1984 legacy while showcasing the city's modern identity.

LOS ANGELES, USA – In an unprecedented move, the LA28 Opening Ceremony on July 14, 2028, will be a shared celebration between two iconic venues: the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the modern SoFi Stadium.

THE VISION

The dual-venue ceremony honors the city's rich sporting past while showcasing its future. The Coliseum β€” which hosted the 1932 and 1984 Summer Games β€” will become the first venue ever to host events at three different Olympiads.

Creative direction is in the hands of Emmy winner Ben Winston (The Grammys, Paris-to-LA handover segment) and Scott Givens, a veteran of 15 Olympic Games. The ceremony promises a quintessential LA spectacle uniting sport, music, and the entertainment capital of the world.

THE FULL SCHEDULE

Opening Ceremony: July 14, 2028 β€” LA Memorial Coliseum + SoFi Stadium

Olympic Closing Ceremony: July 30 β€” LA Memorial Coliseum

Paralympic Opening Ceremony: August 15 β€” SoFi Stadium

THE COLISEUM'S PLACE IN HISTORY
