Nashville Skating Academy Molds Next Generation of Olympic Hopefuls
Nine Nashville skaters earned invitations to the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Camp β a direct pipeline to the Olympic team.
NASHVILLE, USA β In the early hours of the morning at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, some of the most talented young figure skaters in the country gather to train.
Nine athletes from the Nashville Skating Academy received invitations to the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Camp β a pipeline program for many who eventually end up on the U.S. National Team. The camp took place in January in St. Louis, immediately following the U.S. Championships that set the 2026 Olympic team roster.
THE NEXT GENERATION
"I guess my overall goal is to win the Olympics," said Lexi White, a pairs skater with the club.
Her partner, Jaxon Surbrook, was struck by the weight of what the camp coaches told them. "They kept telling us that we were, like, the future of U.S. pairs," Surbrook said. "So, in a way, that makes you feel really good, but then you're also really stressed. You're like, 'Oh my gosh, this is kind of stressful,' but it was cool being there and just feeling like you're the next generation."
THE COACH
Former Olympian Bill Fauver leads the program in Nashville. Under his guidance, the club has become one of the most productive development academies in the country.
"I feel so much support and love in the skating community, and especially here," White said. "I hope we do big things with this club."
The Nashville Skating Academy's next milestone: getting a skater to the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.
