Next-Gen USA Basketball Stars Ready to Answer LA28 Call

Jaren Jackson Jr. and Paolo Banchero headline the wave of rising American talent eager to compete on home soil in 2028.

A NEW GENERATION STEPS UP

LOS ANGELES, USA – As LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant approach the twilight of their legendary careers, the next generation of American basketball stars is already positioning itself to carry the torch at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies and Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic, both part of the U.S. team that finished fourth at the FIBA World Cup 2023, have made clear they would jump at the opportunity to compete on home soil. Jackson, who will be 28 in 2028, didn't mince words about his availability.

JACKSON: "I'M THERE AT ANY MOMENT"

"I always say if I get the call for that, I'm there at any moment," Jackson told Olympics.com. "I would drop everything to go do that, and they know that. I definitely would want some get back from how we ended for sure."

Banchero, who will be 25 when the Games arrive, pointed to his World Cup experience as giving him a taste for further international duty. "Being in the US and LA, it's going to be in our backyard," said the Seattle native. "If I was able to be on that team, it would be a huge, huge opportunity. I'm sure I would put my all on the line to try and get the gold medal."

THE INTUIT DOME AWAITS

The Olympic men's basketball competition at LA28 will take place from July 13-30, 2028, at the Intuit Dome, the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers. With a projected roster featuring Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum, and rising star Cooper Flagg, Team USA's gold medal hopes remain firmly intact.
